Aubrey Dan
Aubrey and his wife, Marla, founded the Aubrey & Marla Dan Foundation in 2002. An active Trustee, he is a Canadian businessman, philanthropist, Tony-Award® winning producer (Memphis), and the principal of the Dancap Family Investment Office.
Aubrey graduated from Western University in 1985 with a degree in Administrative and Commercial Studies, and has since worked in the pharmaceutical, theatrical, and business worlds. The foundation embodies Aubrey’s entrepreneurial nature by partnering with organizations in new and innovative ways, leading to healthy and successful communities.
Marla Dan
Marla, along with her husband Aubrey, founded the Aubrey & Marla Dan Foundation in 2002. An active Trustee, Marla strongly supports leadership development and volunteerism. She was President of Canadian Hadassah-WIZO (CHW) Toronto Centre from 2007-2009 and the National President of CHW from 2009-2014.
The foundation embodies Marla’s philanthropic spirit by building inclusive and engaged communities, supporting positive and successful development of women and youth, and fostering healthy lifestyles to improve people’s overall well-being.
Elias Toby
Elias is a Trustee of the Aubrey & Marla Dan Foundation. A graduate of the University of Toronto and a qualified CPA and CFP, Elias is a results-oriented business leader and is the COO and CFO of the Dancap Family Investment Office.
With a background in institutional investing and strategic planning, Elias actively guides AMDF’s strategic decisions to create meaningful impact. Elias has also served on the UJA and CJN Boards, and is dedicated to shaping societal direction through political engagement.
Alyse Bernbaum
Alyse is the Executive Director of the Aubrey & Marla Dan Foundation. Guiding and managing the day-to-day operations and ongoing projects, Alyse is focused on building community ties and strengthening charitable relationships.
Alyse graduated from Queen’s University Drama in 2014 and from the Schulich School of Business with a Master’s Degree in Management in 2017. Alyse pushes the foundation forward by assessing new charitable and programmatic initiatives, empowering youth through mental health and homelessness supports.
Tamara Haberman
Tamara is the Grants Director of the Aubrey & Marla Dan Foundation. Joining AMDF in 2022, she brings a genuine passion for supporting others and a strong track record in building sustainable organizational infrastructure.
Working in the charitable sector for over 26 years, Tamara leads with thoughtfulness and transparency. With an eagerness to “get her hands dirty”, Tamara enjoys working with, and connecting to, people from all walks of life.
Haley Burkes-Millo
Haley is the Communications Director of the Aubrey & Marla Dan Foundation. Joining AMDF in 2022, Haley collaborates with the AMDF team and charitable partners to implement the foundation’s vision and strategy.
Haley has over 10 years of experience working around the world with organizations and hi-tech companies as an accomplished marketing and communications professional. Utilizing her hands-on experience, Haley merged her love of writing with her passion for charitable work to convey the immense value in helping both our local and global community.
Zack Bernbaum
Zack is the Media & Events Manager of the Aubrey & Marla Dan Foundation. Joining AMDF in 2023, Zack collaborates with the AMDF team and charitable partners to implement the foundation’s vision and strategy.
Zack has over 10 years of experience as a media professional in the film and digital industries and approaches each opportunity both strategically and creatively. As a storyteller with a passion for philanthropy, Zack works with charities to tell their stories in inspiring and thought-provoking ways.
Caitlyn Cuento Gujol
Caitlyn is the Foundation Administrator of the Aubrey & Marla Dan Foundation. Joining AMDF in 2023, Caitlyn assists the Grants Director and supports the AMDF team with ongoing projects and operations.
Caitlyn gained a deeper understanding and passion for philanthropy while working for the community-focused Filipino Centre Toronto. With excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, Caitlyn combines her education, customer-facing experiences, and enthusiasm to strengthen AMDF’s priorities.
