The DAN Department of Creative Human Design envisions, designs and creates adaptive tools, services and products for people with special needs, people with developmental and/or physical delays, the elderly and the very young. This department embodies the innovative nature of the university and showcases creativity while easing and even erasing challenges for people with needs.
“We like the creativity used for designing objects for the betterment of humankind by the students,” comments Aubrey. The name DAN Department of Creative Human Design aims to capture the true essence of the program.
The endowment provides the department capacity to extend its mandate. The DAN Department of Creative Human Design can now offer scholarship support, expand their student exchange program, strengthen their guest lecture series and teaching workshops, attend conferences, and build stronger collaborations in Israel and internationally, along with many other initiatives.
In the words of Prof. Bertold Fridlender, President at Hadassah Academic College, “Aubrey & Marla’s gift has had a significant impact on future development, allowing the Department to create international relationships with academic institutions outside of Israel in the area of industrial design.”
The Marla Dan Interventional Radiology Institute at the Shamir Medical Center in Be’er Ya’akov, Israel, allows the hospital to invest in leading-edge technology and equipment to facilitate accessing critical diagnostic data leading to greater patient care. This also improves their access to life-saving procedures and a chance for a full recovery.
According to Dr. Osnat Levtzion-Korach, Director General of The Shamir Medical Centre (Assaf Harofeh), “The donation to the Marla Dan Interventional Radiology Institute will help secure state of the art non-invasive radiological equipment, ensuring the hospital can continue to provide the best in personal care, diagnosis, and medical treatment.”
