Student Development Program
Regent Park School of Music (RPSM) is a charitable organization that, for the past 20 years, has been giving children and youth from low-income neighbourhoods in Toronto a music education that is tapping into their real potential and changing their lives. Their after-school, March Break and summer music programs give around 1,000 students aged 3-18a creative and nurturing place where they can, through music, increase their cultural capital, acquire academically-oriented skills and value sand steer clear of the multitude of negative influences around them.
Through performances, artistic expression and mentorship, youth can develop a sense of community, relationship-building abilities and problem-solving skills that will help them to develop a foundation for success. Studies have also shown that those who regularly participate in music lessons experience decreased levels of anxiety, depression and loneliness. As part of our youth mental health initiative, the Aubrey & Marla Dan Foundation supportsRPSM’s work to help students flourish, both musically and socially, through RPSM’s Student Development program.

“Thanks to the Aubrey & Marla Dan Foundation, RPSM will be working to help students flourish, both musically and socially, through our Student Development. We will focus on nurturing students in order to build leadership, character-strengths and work-related skills as they embark on the road to adulthood.”
