Percussion Program

The capacity for music to transform lives is an idea that resides at the heart of Sistema Toronto. Developed around an ensemble-based musical education, students learn a variety of string instruments, percussion, choir as well as music and movement, while developing essential life skills such as problem-solving, empathy and self-advocacy. Currently, the program draws over 275 children in three of priority Toronto neighbourhoods with the aims of helping youth overcome poverty, to thrive as engaged citizens and develop into future leaders.

AMDF has directed its funding towards the organization’s Percussion Program, which features classes geared towards developing aural, rhythmic and ensemble skills that will enhance students’ musical abilities. Participating students are in grades 3-8.
