Regent Park After School Program
The Pathways to Education program captures the essence of how enacting positive social change can benefit countless lives. Pathways is a national charitable organization with 20 locations, helping thousands of students to break the cycle of poverty through education. In 2001 the program initially began in Regent Park in Toronto. Five years later, dropout rates had decreased by more than 70 percent and post-secondary attendance had increased by more than 300 percent. This success is attributed a holistic model that combines academic, financial, social and one-on-one supports (of both parents and counselors) to meet the individual needs of each youth during their high school experience to ensure graduation and success beyond. After the initial success, Pathways charitable organization was formed to scale the program across the country. AMDF supports this flagship program.
