Pine River Institute is a residential treatment centre and outdoor leadership experience for youth ages 13 to 19 located near Shelbourne, Ontario. The focus of treatment at Pine River is addictive behaviours and other mental health issues. The Institute was created in response to a critical gap in services for youth and families struggling with addiction and mental health issues. Treatment is offered in four stages: wilderness, residence, transition and aftercare support. This approach is grounded in best-practices for adolescent development, youth addiction and mental health. Pine River Institute’s holistic approach also includes academics, physical education, recreation, individual therapy, group therapy and family therapy.
According to Victoria L. Creighton (Psy.D., C.Psych) who is the Clinical Director for pine River, “the Dan family is providing parents who are on our extensive waitlist the opportunity to receive support, guidance and hope.”
