Mainstage Theatre Company

Aubrey & Marla Dan Foundation Bursary Program

Mainstage Theatre Company was founded as a non-profit organization in 2009 and is currently in its 12th season. It is an audition-based, youth theatre company that provides intensive actor training and produces two full musicals a year. Mainstage casts youth ages 11 to 21 from the Greater Toronto Area and employs professional musical theatre artists as directors, music directors and choreographers. Through experience with the Company, youth are provided with a diverse range of opportunities to audition, perform, develop artistic abilities and learn the technical aspects of theatre production.

Participation in the performing arts has been linked to community-building skills and healthy self-expression, which are important for mental wellness. AMDF supports the Bursary Program at Mainstage Theatre Company in order to provide more youth with access to the performing arts and, therefore, important life skills.

“AMDF has helped us offer quality musical theatre training to Toronto’s youth. The bursary funding has also ensured that our programming is available regardless of an individual’s socio-economic circumstances through the availability of bursaries.”
